Barbara Jo Marr

Barbara Jo Marr, age 82, of Missouri Valley, Iowa formerly of Norfolk, Nebraska passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley. Barbara was born May 31, 1930 in Missouri Valley to Kirk C. and Blanche A. (Hardy) Barrett. She graduated from the Missouri Valley High School with the class of 1949. Barbara was united in marriage to the love of her life, G. Rex Marr on January 26, 1963, fifty years ago. Barbara was employed by the Nebraska School System, and was a secretary at Westside Elementary School in Norfolk, Nebraska for many years. Prior to Norfolk they had been in Denison, Carroll, Boone and Eagle Grove, Iowa since Rex was a railroader. Barbara was a long-time member of the First Christian Church in Norfolk, Nebraska and was a current member of the Missouri Valley Christian Church. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Norfolk OES, Beulah Chapter #40, and a fifty year member of the Eastern Star. Barbara moved to Missouri Valley in January of 2012 due to failing health. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband G. Rex Marr, sister-in-law Mary Barrett and many others. Survivors include her sons: John G. Marr of Houston, Texas; Franklin K. Marr of Norfolk, Nebraska; grandson: Andrew L. Marr of Seward, Nebraska; brother: John B. “Bud” Barrett and wife Janeen of Missouri Valley, Iowa; and many cousins. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service on Tuesday at the Christian Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
