Memorials may be directed to the family. Edward Laurence Collier, age 92 years, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away on December 30, 2009. Edward was born the eldest of seven children to Laurence and Gertrude Collier in Silver City, IA. He lived in Missouri Valley for the last 60 years, working on the railroad and dairy farming southeast of Missouri Valley. After retiring from farming, he enjoyed working in his orchard and running several small businesses, including a trucking business, service station and towing service. He drilled many water wells in Texas, where he and wife Lola wintered for 28 years. He enjoyed playing guitar and singing at jams with his brothers. He is survived by his wife, Lola (Strayer) Collier, of Missouri Valley; daughter, Margie Ingram and husband, Royce, of Council Bluffs, Iowa; sons: Edward “Bucky” and wife, Sandy, Roger and wife, Sharon, Richard and wife, Marilee, Dennis and wife, Virginia, all of Missouri Valley; sisters: Lucille Lee, of St. Joseph, Missouri, Adeline Thompson, of Council Bluffs, Alice Witthauer and husband, Owen, of Santa Ana, California, Genevieve Ratekin and husband, Jim, of Paradise, California; brothers: Paul Collier and wife, Doris, of Honey Creek, Iowa, Edmund Collier and wife, Louise, of Pine Mountain, California; twenty-seven grandchildren; fifty-nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
