Erma I. Michael

Erma I. (McKay) Michael age 95, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away Thursday, April 25, 2013 at Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley. Erma was born January 12, 1918 to Homer and Myrtie (Lantz) McKay in Logan, Iowa. She married Marion D. Michael on May 20, 1941 in Logan, Iowa. Marion passed away February 2, 1992. Erma graduated from Logan High School in Normal Training in May 1936. She attended Omaha University for two years. She was a rural school teacher in Harrison County for thirteen years. During World War II, she worked for three years at the Glenn L. Martin Bomber Plant in Omaha, Nebraska. In March 1958, Erma and her family moved to Fort Collins, Colorado. In Fort Collins she worked at First National Bank. She retired from the bank after twenty four years. After retiring she went to work at Poudre Valley Hospital in 1984 as a volunteer in the gift shop. She received 6,000 hours as a volunteer. She later worked as a volunteer at the Fort Collins Senior Center. Erma enjoyed bowling, square dancing, ballroom dancing and playing cards with family and friends. Erma is preceded in death by: her parents, Homer and Myrtie McKay, and husband Marion D. Michael. Survivors include: sons; Dennis M. Michael and wife Karen of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Rod Michael and wife Amy and their two sons, James and Jesse Michael of Fort Collins, Colorado. Memorial Services are being held in Fort Collins, Colorado at a later date. Inurnment will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Dunlap, Iowa. Hennessey Funeral Home – Missouri Valley, Iowa
