Eunice M. Blackwell, age 97 of Atlantic, Iowa formerly of Mondamin, Iowa passed away Monday, December 2, 2013 at the Atlantic Nursing and Rehab Center in Atlantic. Eunice was born August 25, 1916 to Oliver Powell and Rilla (Holley) in Little Sioux, Iowa. Eunice graduated from Mondamin School, then taught for the Country School for 4 years, Kindergarten-8th grade. She married Willis P. Blackwell February 26, 1938. She worked for Mutual of Omaha, Childrens Hospital in Iowa City, and was the librarian for the Mondamin library. Eunice was a member of the Methodist Church in Mondamin and loved cooking and baking. Eunice was preceded in death by her parents. Husband Willis and son Richard A.. Sisters: Doris Burcham, Hazel Nuzum and Lois McWilliams. Brothers: Oliver and Paul. Niece: Jodi Light. Survivors include her daughter-in-law: Donna Welte and husband Paul of Cedar Creek, Nebraska. Sister: Alta Light of Kansas City, Missouri; her girls: Irene and Peg, many nieces, nephews and many friends. Visitation will be open 8:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Thursday at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. In Loving Memory Of Eunice M.
