Her later endeavors included government work for the US Army Corps of Engineers, The US Air Force at Sioux City Air Base, a well-known Omaha book store and proudly served the students at the Nebraska School for the Deaf. Lillian graduated from Little Sioux High School as valedictorian and at age 88 volunteered for a vacant position and served on the Little Sioux City Council.
Lillian was well known as the best baker of a prime delicacy, date pinwheel cookies and for her angel food cakes. She was an avid reader and traveler, seeing many European countries with her son Glenn Clair and his family.
