Ronald D. Guill

Ronald Dwight Guill age 74 of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away on Saturday, April 15, 2017 at Arch Bishop Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Ron had been battling rapidly declining health throughout the winter. Family was present and able to say their final words and good byes. He passed away quickly and comfortably around 1:30 in the afternoon, with loved ones at his bedside.

Ron was born the oldest son of Lyle and Helen (Nelson) Guill, on March 1, 1943 in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He grew up in Southwest Iowa helping his parents farm and graduated from Abraham Lincoln High School in Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1961. He also attended ISU. He then farmed on his own time and served in the Army National Guard from 1964 to 1970, during the Vietnam War.

Ron found his calling in life in 1975, when he started his own General Contracting and Carpentry Business. He built many log and custom homes. His business kept himself and his crews busy. One summer they roofed over 23 homes, right here in Missouri Valley.

Ron was especially proud of the carpentry knowledge, skills and habits he taught to his son Terry or “T”, who is proud to follow in his footsteps.

Ron’s interests centered around building and helping others. He loved to read about building and liked to build cabinetry and furniture. He loved drawing blueprints of buildings from the ground up. He was a kind man who was always there to share his knowledge or to lend a helping hand.

He is survived by life partner of 38 years, Phyllis Wohlers. His two children from a previous marriage, daughter Toni Chris Hime, of New Port News, VA, son Terry Ronald Guill “T” of Missouri Valley, IA, and one grandson, Thomas Joseph Hime. Brother, Timothy Guill and wife Jan of Missouri Valley, IA and 2 sisters, Jeanne Wedeking, and Judy Guill. Nephews and nieces.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 from 9:00 until 11:00 a.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. There will be no graveside service.

The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Methodist Church after the service.

May the Good Lord Bless and Keep his soul. Amen
