Memorial Service will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at Mondamin Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Little Sioux Cemetery.

A visitation will be held 6:30pm~8:00pm Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

The family would like to invite everyone to the Mondamin Community Center for a time of lunch and fellowship following the committal.

M. Elaine Farris, age 79, of rural Little Sioux, Iowa passed away Oct. 4, 2025, at Azria nursing home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Elaine was born Oct. 6, 1945, in Hastings, NE to Floyd and Maxine (McDonald) Stevens. Elaine grew up attending Mondamin Public School in Mondamin, Iowa.

Elaine enjoyed life being a homemaker for her family throughout the years. She was a member of the Mondamin Church of Christ. She enjoyed crocheting, growing house plants and collecting dolls. She also enjoyed indulging her “sweet tooth” whenever she could.

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Maxine Stevens of Mondamin; her sister Joan Sabatka of Lincoln, Nebraska; brother Floyd (Junior) Stevens of Ida Grove, Iowa; brother Jeff Stevens of Glenwood, Iowa; and infant sister Yvonne, of Mondamin, Iowa.

Elaine is survived by her husband Gary Farris of Little Sioux, Iowa; son Randy and wife, Debra Farris of Mondamin, Iowa; daughter Becky and husband, Bill Greenwood of Dunlap, Iowa; grandsons Derek and wife, Erica Farris of Bellevue, Nebraska; Mark Quick of Dunlap, Iowa; brothers; Bill and wife Linda Stevens of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Tim and wife Candi Stevens of Lincoln, Nebraska, sister Gloria Smith of Ida Grove, Iowa; step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.

    Elaine & I were best friends growing up in Mondamin. I only lived there for about 3 years but we were same grade. We traded off spending the night at each other’s home. She was a bright soul.
