Ada Salter

Ada Elinor (Grosvenor) Salter, age 94, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Pathfinder Place in Fremont, Nebraska. She was born March 31, 1922, in Logan, Iowa, to Thomas A. and Elinor M. (Browning) Grosvenor. Ada was raised in Logan, Iowa. She graduated from the Logan High School in 1939, and at the tender age of 19, she married Charles L. Salter, June 1, 1941, in Elkhorn, NE. They had a loving and devoted marriage for 62 years, until Charles’ passing in 2003.

Ada lived on the same Harrison County farm near California Junction for over 77 years.   She was a loving mother and was actively involved in the family farming and seed business. Cooking was a skill she developed at a young age, and she was well known throughout the area for her fruit pies and cookies. Ada taught Sunday School and participated in the Ladies Aid Society at the California Junction Presbyterian Church, she was a member of the IOOF Rebekah’s, was a charter member of the Missouri Valley Eagles Auxiliary, and belonged to the local dance club and neighborhood card club.

Ada is preceded in death by: her parents, husband Charles L. Salter, sisters: Marcine Peasley and Betty Foland, many friends and relatives.

Survivors include: Sons: Charles and wife Marilyn of Omaha, Nebraska; Frank and wife Cheryl of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Stanley and wife Linda of Missouri Valley Iowa; and Anthony and wife Mary of Modale, Iowa. In addition, she has many grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson, and many other relatives and friends.

Memorials may be given to the Rand Community Center, Missouri Valley Food Pantry, or the Missouri Valley Eagles.

Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship immediately following the service at the Eagles Club in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
