Char Les A. Bugenhagen

Char Les Ann Bugenhagen, age 74, of Modale, Iowa, passed away on August 6, 2018 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Char Les was born on February 10, 1944 in Hollywood, California, the daughter of Charles McDunn and Opal (Brink) McDunn Buter. She grew up in rural Dunlap and graduated from high school in 1962. She went to Beauty School in Sioux City, Iowa and worked as a hair dresser for 45 years.

Char Les and Don Bugenhagen were united in marriage on December 31, 1983. Char Les and Don moved to California in 1988 and lived there until returning to Harrison County in 2009. Then, they made their home in Modale, Iowa.

Char Les was auxiliary president of the Eagles Club in its early history. She loved reading novels and also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Char Les is preceded in death by her mother Opal, father Charles, and step father Tony.

Survivors include her husband, Don, son: Shad Stream, siblings: David (Mick) of Mo. Valley, Iowa, Robert (Nancy) McDunn of Omaha, Nebraska, Cheryl (Frank) Salter of Mo. Valley, Iowa, Pat (Donna) McDunn, Mary Chambers (Mark) of Mo. Valley, Iowa, Randy McDunn of Modale, Iowa, many nieces and nephews.

In Lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Missouri Valley Eagles Club.

We deeply appreciate the tribute accorded our loved one by your presence here today. We would be pleased if you join us for lunch and fellowship following the service.

    My thoughts and prayers go out to Don and Shad and the.family. I have known Char all my life and she always greeted me with a smile. She was a warm loving caring person . I will never forget when i was 13 ii wanted a perm so bad and she gave me one and i had thick naturally curlly hair anyways and she said “Lizzy I will do it but im telling you your not gonnaike it. And boy was she right i had so much hair i couldnt do a thing with it

So after school pictures were taken i cut it all off. Everytime i see my 9th grade picture I laugh and think of Char. She will be missed by many.

    My sincere sympathy to Char Les’s entire family. Fond memories come to mind as I think back to the “Class of ’62” and times shared with Char Les! May the love of family and friends be a source of comfort to you at this time. Love lives on~~

    My condolences to the family of Char Les , We were friends in school even rode the same bus. We share relatives. Her mom was the sister of one of my uncle (Bill) so she was mentioned a lot. I got a letter from her not to long ago and will treasure her message. Barbara
