Dewey Allen Rowe age 75, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away on Friday, June 1, 2018 at his home surrounded by his loving family. Dewey was born September 15, 1942 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to Ed and Edna (Olson) Rowe. Dewey graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1960. He joined the United States Navy and served his country from 1961 to 1965 during the Vietnam War. He married Mary Jane Allen October 5, 1965 in Elk Point, South Dakota. He worked for Gate City Steel in Omaha, Nebraska for many years, he also worked for Airlite Plastics Company in the printing department in Omaha, Nebraska for seventeen years until he retired. He enjoyed camping and making a big “White Man Fire” so everyone had to sit way back. He loved being with his family and all the great grandchildren called him “Papa Janie”. He also liked to invent new things, which never amounted to anything really, but he was sure proud of himself for building these things like his solar panels, envelope machine and compost bucket. Taking a “papa short cut” will add hours to your destination. Dad, we will miss you and we will always be “Papa’s Angels”.
Dewey is preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Billy Rowe and Eddie Rowe, nephew Jimmy Rowe.
Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jane Rowe of Missouri Valley, Iowa, daughters: Jean Ann Kerger of Woodbine, Iowa, Sharon Rowe of Phoenix, Arizona, Barb Staben and husband David of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Julie Rowe of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Ginger Mahoney and husband Casey of Missouri Valley, Iowa, eleven grandchildren, twenty-four great grandchildren, sister Annabelle Endicott of Orlando, Florida, and brother Raymond Rowe and wife Shirley of Salisaw, Oklahoma, many nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6pm at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
Family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Rand Center following the committal service at the cemetery.
