Funeral Service will follow at 10:00a.m.

Dorothy Olsen, age 89 of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away on Friday, December 13, 2024, at Azria Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Dorothy was born September 30, 1935, to Hans and Ida (Kittler) Christensen. She attended and graduated from Logan High School. Dorothy was baptized into Christ October 11, 1963.

Rodney and Dorothy were married for 56 years. They had three children: Claudia Ann, Kimberly Kay, and Kevin Robert.

Dorothy was the manager at the Missouri Valley Medicine Chest and later was the manager at the People Store Miz Shop in Blair. Dorothy took a new position at Missouri Valley Community Memorial Hospital in the business office where she spent the next 30 years serving the community hospital.

Dorothy Olsen is survived by her three children: Claudia Olsen of Norfolk, NE, Kim and Jim Cordle of Blair, NE., Kevin Olsen of Lincoln, ME. Dorothy has seven grandchildren: Jennifer (Tim) Bell of North Sioux City, SD., Michael (Allie) Cordle of Parrish, FL., Ashley (Aaron) McCoy of Blair, NE., and Alexa Olsen of Boston MA. Dorothy has four great-grandchildren: Madison Bell, Jayden Cordle Brooks McCoy and Lorelai McCoy and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, Hans and Ida Christensen, sisters Darlene Kearney and Renelda Fetter, brothers Vernon Christensen and Gerald Christensen.

    I had not seen this until today while checking on my husband’s. I worked many years in the hospital business office with Dorothy. She was always nice to me. God bless.
