On September 22, 1956, Duane married Myrna Grooms from Mondamin, Iowa and enjoyed a wonderful life together for almost 67 years. The couple moved to Dunlap, Iowa and began farming at that time. Six years later they moved to Mondamin, Iowa and continued farming. After 52 years of working the land that the Lord blessed them with, he retired in 2010.
During these years they were blessed with three daughters: Julie, Connie, and Beth. The girls were always proud to be a farmer’s daughter.
Duane enjoyed camping, boating, deer hunting, raising boxer pups, cattle and hog farming, square dancing, working with 4-H calves, tractor pulls and parades with antique tractors, spending winters in Arizona, bus trips and visiting with family and friends. He enjoyed making homemade ice cream and delivering sweet corn from his garden to family and friends. He currently attended Reach Church in Blair, Nebraska and previously had been a board member for the Mondamin Co-op.
Over the years, Duane was blessed and so grateful he was able to enjoy time with all his grandchildren and great grandchildren . He was known to them as Poppy and Papa D.

We have lots of great memories of Duane. So sorry for your loss. He was a special man. Considering ourselves fortunate to have known him. Prayers for your family.
blessing coming your way for you and the family
Prayers for comfort and peace.
Duane has been a longtime member of the Mondamin community and a devoted family man. He will be dearly missed by so many. Our hearts and prayers go out to Myrna and his loving family.
Myrna, I didn’t know Duane but have heard nice things about him. You have now joined the many who have had long, happy marriages and will be adjusting to a new normal. Thankful you have the Lord to lean on as did I. Enjoyed our times volunteering at Longview. God’s continued blessings, Betty M
The generations rise and fall before the Lord. Duane served the Lord well in our generation of Ehlert descendants. Always looked for him in the parade and enjoyed meeting him at Old Settlers. May the Lord bless and keep all who mourn and comfort you with the peace that passes all understanding.
