Fran Dvorak, 93, passed away Friday, March 22, at the Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley.
There will be a Celebration of Life ceremony on Sunday, April 7, 2019 at First Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa from 1-3pm.
Fran was born on June 9, 1925 to Margaret and Harry Stein in Denison, Iowa. They farmed and lived in Schleswig, Iowa. She married E. Steve Dvorak on September 27, 1946. They lived in south Omaha, later moving to north Omaha with a final move to Missouri Valley in 1957 where Steve taught English and Spanish at Missouri Valley High School. They had two children, Ron and Nancy.
Fran was a waitress for many years, she worked the at the Tamarack for more than 25 years, moving on to Thumbs Restaurant and then later worked at Gurney’s. After her retirement she became a member of the Missouri Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary and worked at the hospital for 6 years and volunteered her time at the Rand Center for 7 years.
Fran was a member of First Lutheran Church. She loved taking care of her lawn, and both flower and vegetable gardening, but mostly cooking for her family.
Fran was preceded in death by an infant brother, her parents and her husband, Steve, in September 1989.
She is survived by her son Ron (Janeen) Dvorak, daughter Nancy (Fred) McBath, two granddaughters, Courtney (Nick) Turner and Rachael (Cole) Wojtalewicz.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials and condolences to First Lutheran Church, Missouri Valley which will be directed to Missouri Valley Flood Relief.
