
Gary “Pete” Peterson exited life’s stage on January 3, 2024, at 72 years of age. He was the youngest of three sons, born to Carl and Carol (Woodward) Peterson on February 3, 1951, in Kansas City, Kansas.
Pete attended De Soto High School and graduated in 1969. Pete was active in high school sports and roller-skated competitively, placing 4th in the nationals. After high school, he attended K-State University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in psychology.
Pete poured concrete vertical foundations for a few years and the formed his own business, Flinthills Foundation Co. in 2012, Pete sold his company and embarked upon retirement.
He enjoyed the outdoors, bow hunting and fishing. He and Vickie enjoyed vacations anywhere the were mountains and their trips to Custer St. Park in the Blackhills.
Pete is survived by his life companion Vickie, of the home; son, Aaron (Sony) Peterson of Bellingham, WA; daughter, Kim (Leroy) O’Bray of Pittsburgh, KS; brother, Richard (Gloria) Peterson of St Louis, MO; half brother Phil (Rita) Peterson of Lenexa, KS; grandchildren Adam Peterson, Kaden Gatewood, Kallan O’Bray, Kamden O’Bray, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pete was preceded in death by his daughter Lindsay Peterson; his brother David Peterson; and his parents Carl and Carol Peterson.
A Celebration of Life service was conducted January 13, 2024 in Wamego, Kansas.
