Henry W. Marquardt, 88, of Missouri Valley, IA passed away at Longview Azria Care Center on June 20, 2022 in Missouri Valley. He was born on June 24, 1933 in Missouri Valley to Henry E. and Hazel (Reel) Marquardt. Henry married Betty Spencer on September 2, 1955 in Missouri Valley. To this union four children were born.

Henry was predeceased by his parents, sisters Dolores (Gene Kiefer), Marian (Ivan Longmeyer), Joyce (Stanley Gatrost) and brother Kenneth Marquardt.

He is survived by Betty, his wife of 66 years, children Vicky Marquardt, Kathleen (R.D.) Core, Daniel (Colleen) Marquardt and Jean Marquardt, sister-in-law Sandy Marquardt, grandchildren Jay Allen, Kiley Core, Abby (Cory) Knapp, Jessica (Chad) Dickinson, Shelby Marquardt, many nieces and nephews.

Henry was a lifelong member of First Lutheran Church and filled many roles including elder and president of the congregation. He attended many rural schools and graduated from MVHS in 1951. He worked for C&NW Railroad for a year and spent the next 37 years until retirement with United Airlines. He was an avid horseman and loved riding his American Saddlebred, Dancer.

Visitation will be held at First Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley on June 22, 2022 from 6:30-8:00 p.m.

Funeral service will be conducted by Rev. Joseph Hanson at First Lutheran Church on June 23, 2022 at 10:00 a.m.

Interment will follow at Branson Cemetery in Loveland, IA. Family and friends are invited to a luncheon at the church following internment.

Memorials are requested to go to First Lutheran Church. The family would like to give a special thanks to the staff at Longview Azria Care Center and Azria Hospice for the compassionate care.

    We have such fond memories of Hanks time at Mt. Olive Lutheran church.
    We are saddened to hear of his passing. Such a Christian gentleman.

    I’m very sorry for your loss. My Dad would tell stories about running around with Marquardt boys in his younger days. Hank would help sometimes take my Dad to dialysis when someone in the family couldn’t. I bet they’re all together having a good time in Heaven.

    Dear Betty and family of Hank.
    So sad to hear of Hank’s passing. He was such a sweet caring Man and I can see him walking in Heaven with his Lord and Savior. Sympathy to all and God be with all.
