James J. Hoffman age 92, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, December 20, 2022 at his home. Jim was born March 29, 1930 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Thomas and Mary (Childers) Hoffman. He married Patricia McCoy August 3, 1952. They were blessed with 70 years together. Jim joined the United States Army June 1947 at the age of 17, he was stationed in Japan and Korea. He was Honorably discharged June of 1950. He was employed by Yellow Truck Lines, Home Comfort and Air Way Sheet Metal, he was a member of Woodmen Life and McDonald’s Coffee group.
His family was his passion, he also enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, bowling, playing cards and was a marble champion.
James is preceded in death by his mother and father, stepfather, brothers; William and Ivan, sisters Mary Frances Freize and Viola Bradley.
Survivors include his wife Patricia Hoffman of Missouri Valley, Iowa, sons; Daniel (Susan) of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Andrew (Debbie) of Savannah, Missouri, Steven (Rollene) of East Moline, Illinois, and daughters; Peggy Holford (Patrick) of Council Bluffs, Iowa, and Marsha Barry of Missouri Valley, Iowa, thirteen grandchildren, eighteen great grandchildren, and a great great grandson, one sister; Wanda Gwennap of Council Bluffs, Iowa, many nieces and nephews and special friends.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Eagles Club following the committal service at the cemetery.
Military Honors will be conducted by The United States Army Corp.
