
Janis Lovetta (Bothwell) Scott age 73, of Mondamin, Iowa passed away peacefully on Monday, May 17, 2021 at Select Care in Omaha, Nebraska. Janis was born on March 21, 1948 to William (Bill) and Lovetta (Nuzum) Bothwell and graduated from West Harrison High School in 1966. While in school, Janis loved to ride horses, especially competing in rodeo events of barrel racing and pole bending where she won many State and National Championships. She also played basketball, softball and ran track, and still holds a state track record to date. On August 13, 1967, Janis married Ron Scott and they had one child: Danya (Scott) Anderson. Together they enjoyed spending time with family and friends, golfing, camping, fishing, attending car shows, playing cards, pickleball, dancing, and let’s not forget the ice-cold beverages with friends on Friday nights.
Janis worked as a nurse and office manager for Doc Walls in Mondamin for 15 years until she went to work in the legal field where she retired from Engles, Ketcham, Olson & Keith in December 2014. Since retirement, the couple became “Winter Texans” spending the winter months in Southern Texas with close friends, Tom and Sandy Robbins.
Janis was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, Ray.
Janis is survived by her husband Ron Scott, daughter, Danya (Scott) and Jeff Anderson; grandson, Jared Anderson; sister, Philis and Dallas Blazek, niece Shawn (Blazek) Bruening and her children Garrett, Avery and Dallas Jon; nephew, Shane Blazek and his wife, Jen, and their daughter, Kira; nephew, Andrew Bothwell, and his children, Alyssa, Mariah, Braxton, Brody, and Kolt.
Visitation will be Thursday 6:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Methodist Church following the service.
