In Loving Memory Of John A. Lakas Sr. July 11, 1947~March 29, 2019 John A. Lakas Sr. age 71, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away on Friday, March 29, 2019 at Select Specialty Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. John was born July 11, 1947 in Missouri Valley, Iowa to William and Bessie (Rosenow) Lakas. John was a loving husband and father. He loved taking his wife, Janette, anywhere she wanted to go. He taught his kids everything he knew whether it was shooting a gun, fishing, fixing a vehicle, or showing how the boys should be treating their women and how a woman should be treated. His favorite time of year was the 4th of July and Christmas. He enjoyed watching the family getting together to have fun for shootouts (where he schooled everyone) and all the cook outs. He loved fishing most of all, but he also enjoyed hunting. Anything that involved family made him happy. He enjoyed spending time with grandkids and hearing everything they had learned. He was great at avoiding the camera most times. He enjoyed watching his kids teach his grandkids everything he taught them as they grew up. He was extremely supportive. He wasn’t rich in money but he was rich in love and family. John was preceded in death by his parents William George Lakas and Bessie Iola Rosenow; Stepdad Jesse Calvin Vincent; Brother George William Lakas; Sisters Linda Pearl Lakas and ElleMarie Lakas; Granddaughter Shelby Rae Lakas. Survivors include his wife Janette; children: John, William (Wife Wendy), and Emma (Husband Adam); Grandchildren – Justina (Fiancé Brian), Angel (Fiancé Mike), Dimitri, Xavier, and Izabelle; Great Grandchildren – Olivia, Amoryah, and Justin. Visitation will be held Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Celebration of Life Service will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 6, 2019 at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Officiating Chaplain Jeff Bierbrodt Music Selections “Hurt”, “Desperado”, “The Gambler”. Final Resting Place Oak Grove Cemetery in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
