Joyce McClannahan age 90, of Mondamin, Iowa passed away on Wednesday, November 10, 2021 at Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
Joyce was born on January 1, 1931 to Lloyd and Edna (Meacham) Ruffcorn in Magnolia, Iowa. Joyce received her GED at the age of 76. On March 15, 1947, Joyce married Gene McClannahan in Pisgah, IA.
Joyce worked at Keith’s Store for many years before becoming the head cook at West Harrison High School. After retiring, Joyce was the librarian at the Mondamin Public Library and her church for several years. Joyce thoroughly enjoyed all sports and was an avid Iowa State Cyclone fan and enjoyed spending time with family. Joyce loved to dance and WWII music and Polkas were her favorites. Joyce was a great wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt which all could attest to.
Joyce is survived by her children, Gleean McClannahan Coates and her husband Don of Johnston, IA; Gena McClannahan Gwin of Thornton, CO; Don McClannahan and his wife Pam of Storm Lake, IA; daughter-in-law, Barb McClannahan of Johnston, IA; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, husband Gene, brothers, Cyril and Richard Ruffcorn, son Dan McClannahan, and son-in-law Kevin Gwin.
Funeral Services will be Monday, November 15, 2021 at 2:00 PM at New Life Church in Mondamin, IA. Interment will follow at Noyes Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00 until time of service on Monday at the church.
There will be a reception following the committal at the Mondamin Community Center.

Joyce was such a dear friend. I will truly miss her!! I’ll remember her as a “real” person…she was honest about what she believed! She was fun & a lil bit fiesty too!! I’ll see you again someday Joyce! Until then…
Sending my sympathy to Joyce’s family. She worked hard at everything she did and was very helpful to everyone whether she was in the kitchen at school or the library. I’m very sorry for your loss.

Gena, Your mom consoled me on the way home after an Ia. State Girls BB tournament one time. I was experiencing a tough time in my personal life.
