Joyce Helen Wakehouse passed away on Saturday, June 15th 2019 at the CHI Missouri Valley Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa after a devastating battle with Alzheimer’s, having attained the age of seventy seven years, four months & fourteen days old. Joyce Helen Wakehouse, daughter of Raymond and Mable (Linnel) Jensen, was born February 1, 1942, in Missouri Valley, Iowa. On June 30, 1969, Joyce was united in marriage to Wayne Dale Wakehouse of Pisgah, Iowa. They made their home in several communities in the counties of Iowa. Joyce was a home-maker and entrepreneur of many different areas in life. In the early years they ran several businesses in the Magnolia and Missouri Valley communities. Joyce & Wayne ran the Hillside Motel in Missouri Valley Iowa for over 10 years. Joyce enjoyed raising her kids and grandkids, gardening & traveling. Most of all she loved spending time with her family. Her kids & grandkids were her whole world.
Joyce was preceded in death by her parents Mable & Raymond Jensen, brothers Bob & Jerry Jensen, First husband Kenneth Martin, son Danny Martin.
Joyce is survived by her husband Wayne Wakehouse, sister Donna Jean McDunn, Brother Mike Jensen, sons: Tommy Martin (Diane Martin) & David Wakehouse, daughters include: Cindy Martin & Kellie Wakehouse (Marty Gustafson); Grandchildren include: Jessica Williams, Jean Martin, Sarah Williams, Wayne Wakehouse, Wyatt Wakehouse, Noah Williams, Gage Gustafson, Tommy Martin, Danny Martin, Heidi Wakehouse, Lanie Gustafson, Ninah Williams & Lily Gustafson. Great-grandchildren include Khloe Gardner, Jude Clausen, Jayla Webster, & Wesley Schmit. Along with several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 19, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Wayne and family, My heart felt sympathy for all of you! This is a hard thing to go through but she would have told you to go on and live. Memories of the 4 of us Wayne, will never fade! Prayers for all.
