Kim Catherine (Crosby) Slezak age 58, of Owatonna, Minnesota formerly of Missouri Valley, Iowa, passed away on April 14, 2021. Kim was born June 9, 1962 in Nebraska City, Nebraska to Hugh and Betty (Woody) Crosby. Kim graduated from Missouri Valley High School class of 1980. During her high school years Kim worked at Thumbs Restaurant in Missouri Valley, Iowa. After graduation, she moved to Omaha, Nebraska and worked at Mutual of Omaha. She met Ted Slezak and moved to Minnesota, dated Ted for 5 years before getting married. She was a Life underwriter for Federated Insurance for 18 years. After retiring, she went to work at Jostens. She lived in Owatonna, Minnesota for over 30 years. She dedicated her life to helping the less fortunate. Actively supported many associations such as Cancer Societies, American Heart and Lung Association, and Mothers Against Drunk Driving. She loved to eat and spent a lot of time journaling. She enjoyed gardening and craft shows and caring for her cats. Kim went to college classes at UNO to keep up to date on the insurance certifications. She had a 4.0 GPA, she was very proud of that, she could always recall important dates and reminded all of her siblings. She was very independent, she fought cancer for several years all alone and wouldn’t ask anyone for help. She kept busy and did not let cancer slow her down, always on a time schedule. She never let grass grow under her feet. She loved her cats very much.
Kim is preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Betty Crosby, brother, Mathew, uncle Delmond L. Woody Jr, grandparents, Delmond L. and Betty L. Woody.
She is survived by siblings, Thomas Charles Crosby III, Lesa Anne Chambers (Dave), Sean Kelly Crosby, Elizabeth Jo Fox and significant other Todd Cryderman, her beloved cat Boomer, her best friends, Sharon Ingram, Kathy Mathwig.
Visitation will be Friday, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with family sharing at 6:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Kim, you will be greatly missed. I have not had the honor of knowing too many people with such a faithful and happy outlook on life…you had attitude of joy in the good and bad times. It was a pleasure to know you. My sincere condolences to your family.
We are so sorry to have Kim taken so soon, she was such a kind and gentle person with a beautiful soul. She will be missed greatly and will be remembered fondly. She truly cared about her loved ones and when corresponding with us we felt as if we were always connected. May she be at peace and have eternal joy with Jesus.
