LaDon L. “Joker” McColley

LaDon “Joker” Loyle McColley of Mondamin, Iowa passed away in his home Wednesday, February 27, 2019, at age 78. He was surrounded by his loving family. Joker was born July 19, 1940, to Ethel (DePugh) McColley and Winfred (Bubs) McColley in Raglan Township in the Loess Hills. He spent most of his life in the Mondamin area where he attended school, worked, and raised his family. He met the love of his life Mary Ann Habink in Moorhead, IA and they were married April 12, 1966. They raised three daughters at their home in Mondamin. Joker loved to fish, work on cars, bird watch, cook and drive fast. However, his favorite past time was being with family. His family meant everything to him. He worked 40 years at Fruehauf in Omaha, NE. with some of his closest friends. He was a lifelong member of the Mondamin Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents Winfred and Ethel McColley and one nephew Livingston Herrington. Joker is survived by his wife Mary Ann and daughters June (Travis) Myler of Blencoe, IA, Penny (Mark) Friis-Hansen of Plattsmouth, NE, and Rebecca (Jason) Pavlik of Modale Iowa. He is also survived by eight grandchildren: Kennedy, Loyal, and Noah Myler, Dakota and Ben Tamisiea, and Corbin, Brecken and Abraham Joker Pavlik and one great-granddaughter Adrian Rose Holben. One brother Larry (Candy) McColley of Orlando, FL, and two sisters Sharon (David) Jabens of Omaha, NE, and Deborah McColley (John Kretzschmar) of Bellevue NE, and many loving nieces and nephews. He will be greatly missed. A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, March 3rd at the Mondamin Church of Christ. A luncheon will follow in the church basement. Reverend Wayne Bahr will lead the service. Special music will be provided by Gary Weldon. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family.

    We knew Joker all the way through school. He was a lot
    Of fun. When we visited Mondamin and ran into him
    He was so friendly. And kept us up on people we knew.
