Leonard Vitus Rath age 97, of Logan, Iowa passed away on October 4, 2013 at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley. Leonard was born August 30, 1916 in Westphalia, Iowa to Joseph and Frances K. (Barry) Rath. Leonard graduated from Beebeetown High School. He married Lucille Wohlers on June 5, 1940 in Missouri Valley, Iowa. They were married for sixty- one years and she was the love of his life. Lucille passed away December 9, 2001. He farmed for over seventy years after they got married north of Beebeetown. Leonard drove the school bus for the Beebeetown School and Tri Center School District for over forty-four years. Leonard was a member of the St. Patricks Church and was a devout Catholic. He loved to farm and raise Hereford Cattle and Spotted Poland China Hogs and he was an avid John Deere and Ford fan. Leonard is preceded in death by: parents, wife, brothers; Eugene and Alvin. Survivors include his children: Lorraine Blaas and husband Noel of Fort Worth, Texas; Larry Rath of Omaha, Nebraska; Lyle Rath and wife Judy of Thedford, Nebraska; twelve grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be held from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 6:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
