Leta Lane
LETA MAE LANE, age 86, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away Saturday, March 13, 2010 at the Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Leta was born August 15, 1923 in Council Bluffs, Iowa to Rasmus and Harriet (Graft) Petersen. Leta was married to Paul L. Lane June 15, 1947. Leta worked as the weekend cashier at the Sunnyside Café, was an aide at the Longview Care Center and worked many years as a cook for the Missouri Valley School System. Paul passed away September 2, 1993. Leta was a member of St. Patricks Catholic Church and she enjoyed sewing, gardening and flowers. Survivors include her son: Paul L. Lane Jr. of Missouri Valley, Iowa; daughter: Loretta Harder and husband Louie of Hancock, Iowa; grandson: Michael Harder and wife Angela of Sioux City, Iowa; granddaughter: Melissa Peters and husband Lee of Lincoln, Nebraska; great-granddaughter: Alexandria Harder of Sioux City, Iowa; sister: Kathryn Martin of Shelby, Iowa; brother: Walter Petersen and wife Delores of Council Bluffs, Iowa; nieces and nephews. Leta was preceded in death by her parents, husband Paul, sisters: Elvira Mains, Mildred Palmer, Dorothy Flury, Ruth Smith; brothers: Marvin, Peter and Donald Petersen. Prayer Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday with family visitation to follow at the Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at St. Patricks Catholic Church following the committal service at the cemetery.
