Lovetta Bothwell age 94, of Pisgah, Iowa passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 at Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Lovetta was born February 18, 1924 in Pisgah, Iowa to Clyde and Laura (Squier) Nuzum. Lovetta graduated from Pisgah High School in 1941. On December 15, 1941, Lovetta married William “Bill” Bothwell and they had three children: Philis, Janis and Ray. The family made their home west of Pisgah and farmed the land, first with horses and then with tractors, for over 50 years. This is where they liked to entertain family and friends, playing music, holding dances, riding horses, and creating many memories. Lovetta could play the piano and violin, and Bill could play any instrument you handed him, so when others jumped in with instruments to play, the house always rocked and the good times rolled. Together Bill and Lovetta owned and operated the Old Home Filler Up & Keep On Trucking Café in Pisgah for 20 years. In her spare time, Lovetta enjoyed tending to her many flower gardens, playing cards, especially Euchre, cake decorating for all occasions including weddings, birthdays, and bridal and baby showers, oil painting, and attending all the extracurricular activities of her children and grandchildren. Lovetta attended her first Iowa State Fair at age 1 which started a family tradition that carried on through the years until health issues caused her to stop attending.
Lovetta is preceded in death by her parents; husband William; son, Ray; and sister, Cledus Twomey.
Lovetta is survived by her daughters: Philis and Dallas Blazek, and Janis and Ron Scott; grandchildren: Danya (Scott) and Jeff Anderson and son, Jared; Shawn (Blazek) Bruening and children Garrett, Avery and Dallas Jon; Shane and Jen Blazek and daughter, Kira; and Andrew Bothwell and children, Alyssa, Mariah, Braxton and Brody.
Visitation will be held on Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Methodist Church following the Funeral Service.
