Lynda Kay (Barth) Mefferd age 73, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, passed away on September 22, 2024, at Longview Nursing Home.

Lynda was born June 8, 1951, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Jerry and Patricia (Wrinkle) Barth. Lynda was raised in Cal Junction and attended grade school and high school in Missouri Valley. After graduation she started working for Mutual of Omaha in the accounting department and worked there for about 15 years. She was forced into an early retirement at 33 years old, when she found out she had Parkinson’s Disease.

In the beginning, she didn’t let it slow her down. She continued to live and enjoy life as usual. Going out having drinks with friends was enjoyable for her. Which is how she met Jim Tremel at Shirley’s Bar in Logan, Iowa, a wonderful man who has stayed by her side for nearly 40 years.

Lynda enjoyed the simple things in life, bowling, staying up until the wee hours in the morning playing Pitch with friends, helping Jim out on the farm, but most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially the grandkids.

Sadly, several years after her diagnosis, Lynda ended up in the nursing home, where she would spend the last 13 years of life. She was fortunate to have a family that would visit her often and bring her favorite treats, like Root beer or a shake. She also had a very special friend Mary, that would see her every day possible.

Those left to cherish Lynda’s memory is, the love of her life Jim Tremel of Woodbine, IA, children: Tami Martinez and Steve Earlywine, Tracy (Greg) Skelton of Missouri Valley, IA, Troy (Tadessa) Mefferd of Cheyenne, WY, mother Pat Barth of Missouri Valley, IA, brothers: Steve (Monica) Barth of Omaha, NE, Rob Barth of Council Bluffs, IA, sister Deb Barth of Missouri Valley, IA, grandchildren: Kaci, Steili, and Angela of Northglenn, CO, Philip and Jordan Mefferd of Cheyenne, WY, Izaiah Martinez of Missouri Valley, IA, Jacob Downey of Logan, IA, and life long friend Mary Staley of Council Bluffs, IA.

Lynda is preceded in death by her father Jerry Barth.
