Mary Helen Kirlin (Allen) Peterson, 74, of Golden, Missouri, formerly of Missouri Valley, passed away at Cassville Healthcare and Rehab Center in Cassville, Missouri on September 23, 2011. She was born August 28, 1937 in Missouri Valley, Iowa the oldest of 12 children born to George and Angela (Tamisiea) Kirlin. She graduated from Modale High School in Modale, IA. She married Frederick (Fritz) L Allen on January 21, 1961. To this union three children were born, Barbara, Steven and Thomas. She was employed at Northwestern Bell Telephone in Missouri Valley for many years, and also worked at Bob Anderson Ford. After Fredericks death in 1978, she married Richard D Peterson on April 7, 1984 in Missouri Valley, Iowa. They retired and moved to Golden, Missouri in 1988 where she pursued her love of quilting, winning many awards and donating quilts for children in need. She was a lifetime member of the Ozark Country Quilters and a member of St Edwards Catholic Church, Cassville, MO. Survivors include: husband, Richard D Peterson, Golden, MO, daughter; Barbara (Richard) Peterson, Arnold, NE; two sons; Steven Allen, Omaha, NE, and Thomas (Tammy) Allen, Missouri Valley, IA. grandchildren, Justin Peterson, Berkeley, CA; Samantha Peterson, Denver, CO; Bo Suntken, Council Bluffs, IA; Nicholas Allen, Mo. Valley, IA. Six sisters; Shirley Van Duyn, Prior Lake, MN, Sheila (Tom) Nacey, Olathe, CO, Theresa ( John) Riviera, Windsor, CO, Carol Gathye, Papillion, NE, Cathy (Joe) Kulus, Omaha, NE, JoAnn (Michael) Kunkle, Omaha, NE, and four brothers; Terry (Lynne) Kirlin, Omaha, NE, Larry Kirlin, Omaha, NE, Patrick (Marcia) Kirlin, Omaha, NE, Michael (Sheila) Kirlin, Papillion, NE and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and infant brother Daniel Kirlin. A Wake Service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Sunday at the Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
