Merle C. Pauley

Merle Charles Pauley age 92, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away on Friday, October 2, 2020 at Rose Vista Nursing Home in Woodbine, Iowa. He was born February 28, 1928 in Avoca, Iowa to Ira and Ada (Osbar) Pauley. Merle married Carmelita Lustgraaf December 29, 1950 at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Omaha, Nebraska, they were married almost sixty seven years. He served six years in the United States Marine Corp. Merle worked as an auto mechanic for most of his life, but he was a Jack of All Trades. There wasn’t anything he couldn’t figure out or fix. In his younger years, Merle enjoyed fishing with his family catching the fish with the home-made doughballs that Carm made. Merle really enjoyed his ice cream and going out for rides in his power chair, especially going down the Loess Moose Restaurant to eat and visit with the girls who worked there. He said they were really nice and friendly to him and the food was good too.

Merle is preceded in death by his parents, wife Carmelita, daughter Peggy Hardy, son Lawrence Pauley, grandchildren Rodney Duncan, Randy Pauley, Jeff Hardy, Chuck Pauley, Heather Wakehouse, great grandchild Gage Lawson, brother Ira (Butch) Pauley, sister Lavone Barta.

Survivors include his children Patty (Rick) Williams, Pam (Rayce) Reynolds, Phyllis (Stuart) Karlin, Lavern (Laurie) Pauley, Lenny (Sandy) Pauley, Penny (Todd) Holst, twenty one grandchildren thirty seven great grandchildren four great great grandchildren, brother Doug (Skeeter) Pauley.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Burial will follow at the Neola Cemetery in Neola, Iowa with Pastor Marlin Lustgraaf Officiating.

Military Honors will be conducted by the Neola American Legion Post #330. Casket Bearers
