God Gave Me a Song
Ruby Piper
When God created this big world,
Then he made man kind
He said I have some gifts to give
To these folks of mine
To some I’ll give some wisdom
With that they can’t go wrong
He gave to some great wisdom
But He gave to me a song
He didn’t give me wisdom
He didn’t give me fame
He didn’t give me power
To accumulate great gain
But He gave me happiness
My worries are all gone
He gave me more than wisdom
He gave to me a song
Then God gave some great riches
Everything they wished to buy
But they found no consolation
When it came time to die
God made some great preachers
With sermons true and strong
Yes, he gave some great riches
But He gave to me a song
Oh, I’m not disappointed,
With this gift He gave to me
I’m just shoutin’ happy,
Since my Jesus set me free
