
Nanci Jo Smith died unexpectedly in her home on Sunday, May 12, 2019 in Pisgah, Iowa at the age of 57. Nanci was born on October 11,1961 in Onawa, IA to Rex and Anna Marie Flint. She graduated from West Harrison High School in 1980. She married Bruce in 1982. After moving to Pisgah, IA the couple welcomed two children into their home and Nanci set about teaching them where to find the best morel mushrooms during season. Nanci worked in the casino industry for over 25 years. Most recently, she worked as a poker dealer at Horseshoe Casino. Nanci loved camping and fishing as well as spending time with her grandson. She was most comfortable outside, on a picnic table, surrounded by friends and family. She enjoyed cooking for her family with her specialties being prime rib roast and lasagna.
Nanci is survived by her husband, Bruce Smith of Pisgah Iowa; children, Ryan Smith of Omaha, NE; Heather Smith-Tubbesing and husband Greg of Nashville, TN; ; grandchild, Kruz Kankousky of Council Bluffs, IA; siblings, Lenyce Lawrenson and husband Darrell of Mondamin, IA; Rex Flint and wife Judy of Little Sioux, IA; Bruce Flint and wife Robyn of Missouri Valley, IA; Mark Flint and wife Tammy of Missouri Valley, IA; Pauline Quinn (Smith) of Omaha, NE; Debra Smith of Omaha, NE; Pamela Edmonds (Smith) of Omaha, NE; Rodney Smith of Omaha, NE; mother-in-laws, Margaret Smith of Modale, IA; Susie Smith of Omaha, NE and many nieces and nephews.
She is proceeded into death by her parents, Rex and Anna Marie Flint of Little Sioux, IA; father-in-law Don Smith of Modale, IA and her beloved Labrador Retrievers Geoff and Ginger
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service at 7:00 p.m.
Officiated by Elder Mary Haner at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
All are welcome to attend and celebrate Nanci’s life.

My thoughts are with the family. I didn’t personally know Nanci, but she sounds like she was a good and interesting person and I wish I could have known her. I hope this scripture at Revelation 21:3,4 brings you comfort knowing that God will end death and we will see our loved ones in the future. “And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away.”
