Patty A Booher, 72, of Mondamin, Iowa passed away unexpectedly on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She was surrounded and comforted by her loving family.

Our “Nana”, as she loved to be called, was an amazing wife, mom, daughter, sister, friend and the best darn noodle maker in town. She could whip up the lightest batch of mouth-watering noodles that everyone would fight over for seconds. She enjoyed spending time with her family. At family dinners she would always have a twinkle in her eye and a smile on her face.

In her spare time, she loved to do crafts and paint. Nana could take something simple, piece it together, and make a beautiful masterpiece. She enjoyed watching westerns and listening to her favorite country music artist Brooks and Dunn. She even taught her grandchildren how to two step as she sang along to “Neon Moon.”

Patty’s story began on October 3, 1945 in Dow City, Ia. She was the youngest child born to Kenneth and Opal Crawford. Her father was the town mayor and mother was a homemaker. She grew up in a very loving home.

On May 11, 1963, she married Darrell Hardy in Dunlap, Iowa. To this union, they were blessed with four beautiful children, Brian, Michael, Richard, and Susan. The family loved to travel and visited many cities across the US. She was both the enforcer and the loving hand in the family and she had a way of letting the kids know she meant business simply by stating “Susan Ann” or “Richard Dean.”

On October 9, 1993, she married Herbert Booher at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. They loved to spend time with their grandchildren and shared a love for western movies and country music. Together their creativity thrived with building their own dream home.

Patty’s children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her heart and joy. There’s no denying that her grandbabies, as she also called them, were the people she loved the most. Time spent at Nana’s house was filled with adventures, love, and so many everlasting memories from running around on the farm, an endless supply of popsicles, tractor rides with Papa, and spending Christmas Eve snowed in with a video game console and laughter.

Loved ones that cleared the path for Patty and whom she is once again re-united with are her father and mother, Kenneth and Opal Crawford, her husbands, Darrell Hardy and Herbert Booher, her son Michael Hardy, and her brothers Carroll and Donald Crawford.

Loved ones that will miss Patty until they meet again are her sons, Brian Hardy and Richard Hardy(Melissa); daughter Susan Fields(Shawn); step-son, Jesse Booher; step-daughter Nina Ellison; grandchildren, Megan and Adam Bosch, Macy Freihage, Nicholas Hardy, Barret Fields, Makayla Hardy, and Allie Fields; great grandchildren, Nolan Freihage and Logan Bosch; brother, Gene Crawford and sisters, Lillian Koger and Janet Glessinger; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Her story will live on through her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren until we see our Nana again. We love and miss you Mom.

Visitation will be Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home.

We lost on anchor to our Family on Friday. I am at ease that she is able to breath freely again and is not in any kind of pain. I find comfort knowing she is in the arms of Herb and Michael again. Standing next to her own Momma and Papa. Petting Danger as he runs up to her: We are all missing you so much and trying so hard to stay strong for you. I just wish we had more time with you. Until we see each other again, know we all love you deeply and a day will not go by where you won’t be in our thoughts.
    Love,
    Mel

Prayers to the family and friends of Patty. She worked at the Harrison County Homemaker Agency for many years. She was a friendly person to work with. She was a very caring and compassionate person with all of our clients. She will be greatly missed. Both as a friend and a co-worker. Thoughts and prayers.

To the family and close friends, please accept my deepest condolences for your loss. Though few words will sooth your hearts, may the scriptural promise by our Lord Christ about the resurrection at John 5:28,29 comfort you during this time of bereavement.

Just learned of Patty’s death via a friend. She was a classmate of mine at Dow City many, many years ago. It has been a long time since I saw her, but always remember her as being a very nice person. Sounds like that characteristic followed her throughout her life. My sympathy to her family
