Pauline Martens Mickey, 97, passed away Sunday, August 25, 2024, at Good Shepherd Nursing Home surrounded by her loving family. She had previously resided in Missouri Valley, IA.
Pauline Elizabeth Wright was born to Frank and Lena (Wood) Wright on June 1, 1927, in a home near Honey Creek, Iowa. Sister LaVonne followed a few years later. Pauline’s mother Lena, passed away in September of 1936. Her father Frank later married Dorothy Griffith and had three boys together, Raymond, Richard and Roger.
Pauline married Leslie Martens from Missouri Valley in October of 1948. Within this union they had 7 children. They resided in multiple country homes throughout their 27 years of marriage. After Leslie’s passing June 1975, Pauline married Charles Mickey in March of 1979. With this marriage brought an additional 4 children to Pauline’s family.
Pauline had a great love for her large family. She was a member of the First Lutheran Church of Missouri Valley and retired from Community Memorial Hospital after working there for many years. She was loved by all that knew her and known for always having a smile on her face. Pauline loved playing cards with her friends, Christmas Eve gatherings, and any opportunity to spend time with family. Her family enjoyed celebrating her many birthdays. She also loved to go for rides through the countryside revisiting the homesteads where she once lived.
She is survived by her children: Carol (Steve) Daily, Ken (Donna) Martens, Ron (Joy) Martens, Gayle Haner (Steven McAllister), Troy Martens (Lisa Mauseth), Tracey (Scott) Mentzer, Connie (David) Lokensgard, Diane (Denny) Jackson, Donald Mickey, Kim (Lisa) Mickey, 22 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. Her Brother Raymond (Marie) Wright, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death were spouses Leslie Martens and Charles Mickey, infant daughter Shelly Lynn Martens, father Frank Wright, mothers Lena Wood Wright and Dorothy Griffith Wright, sister LaVonne Wood, brothers Richard and Roger Wright.
- Luncheon will be held at The Eagles Club in Missouri Valley following the interment.
- Memorial donations may be directed to the family for future designations.
- Visitation: 10:00a.m.~11:00a.m. Thursday, August 29, 2024, at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, IA.
- Funeral Service will follow at 11:00am.

I worked with Pauline at Community Memorial Hospital. She was so kind. Pauline was such a great caregiver. She was admired by her co-workers. Pauline was so nice. I’ll keep her family in my prayers.
