Richard Setchell

Richard Eugene Setchell was born on October 4, 1952 in Logan, Iowa to Roger and Joyce (Sorick) Setchell. Rick graduated from Missouri Valley High School with the class of 1970. He played football, basketball and was a Thespian. Rick joined the Air Force and served 4 years. He also went to nursing school. He then got a job at a radio station in Red Oak, Iowa. Following that, he got hired at Z-92 radio station and was so happy and proud to work there. After 20+ years, he lost his job there and he went to work at 105.9. He liked it, but it wasn’t the same as the “Rock”. Rick loved Christmas! He never missed a holiday with his family. He always said “There is nothing like a holiday dinner at Mom’s”. Rick passed away Friday, February 4th, 2011 at the Missouri Valley hospital with his sister, Susan, by his side. Survivors include his mother, Joyce Tiffey of Missouri Valley; sisters Susan (Mick) McDunn of Missouri Valley and JoAnna Tiffey and friend Carl of Council Bluffs; wife Kathleen of Omaha; children Shari K. of Minnesota, Emily, Laura, Mark & Stephanie of Omaha, Jeni of Reinbeck, IA; grandchildren, Sophie, Abby, Vincent, Mac, Madison and McKenna; aunts Shirley Gillespie and Patty Mahoney; uncle, John Sorick and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Rick is preceded in death by fathers, Roger Sorick (Sept. 11, 1953) and Bill Tiffey (Dec. 24, 2008); grandparents, Orville and Lottie Setchell, Ed and Olive Blumenstein and John and Huldah Tiffey; many aunts and uncles.
