Rita Ann Kellogg

Rita Ann Kellogg age, 66 of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away on Thursday, July 21, 2016 at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska. Rita Ann Kellogg was born at home to Urban and Kathleen Heller on June 20th 1950. She grew up as a hard working farmer’s daughter in the Dunlap and Woodbine area. She attended St Patrick’s Catholic School through the 10th grade until the high school closed. Her family moved to a farm north of Woodbine. She attended Woodbine Community High School and graduated in May of 1968. In the fall of that year, Rita attended Iowa Western Community College and graduated as a Surgical Tech. Her first job was at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, NE. Rita married in June of 1970. On March 17th of 1971, her first son Jason was born. After some time Rita put her career on hold to become a full time farmer’s wife and mother. After a few years, an addition to the family was born in September of 1974, a son, Chad. Rita was always a hard worker. She kept house, cooked, and took care of her boys. Besides that she helped farm, drove equipment, and raised hogs. She was often seen out mowing the yard and walking beans in her bikini. After years of farming, Rita returned to her medical career at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa. In November of 1996, Rita married John Kellogg of Missouri Valley, Iowa. Rita worked for a total of 24 years and 8 months at Community Memorial. Rita loved her children and grandchildren. They were her whole world. Rita loved life, she worked hard, played hard, exercised, ran, and walked to work every day. Rita would drop everything and help whenever she was needed or asked. Rita was the Greatest Daughter, Best Sister, Caring Wife. Fantastic Mom, Grandma, Aunt, and Friend! Everyone that knew Rita, Loved her. As I heard many times, “What’s Not to Love about RITA! Rita is preceded in death by her father, Urban Heller; brother, Joe Heller, and brother-in-law, Bob Bleich. Survivors include her husband, John; mother, Kathleen Heller of Dunlap; her sons, Jason (Deb) Barry of Woodbine; Chad (Kysa) Barry of Pisgah; Six grandchildren; Jacki (Tony) Scheiblhofer of Omaha; Cassi Barry; twins, Aaron and Matt Barry; Brenton and Brielle Barry. Mother-in-law Norma Kellogg; sister-in-law Kathy Kellogg; Stepchildren, Mike (Michelle) Kellogg of Colleyville, TX.; Megan (Erik) Kellogg of Berkeley, CA.; Kale (Jennifer) Kellogg of Omaha; Mara (Jake) Wilson of Omaha. Stepgrandchildren, Katelyn Kellogg; Olivier Olsen; Remy Kellogg; Jude and Parker Wilson. Sisters, Rosemary Bleich of Swansea, IL; Pat (Ed) Wilson of Council Bluffs, IA; Susan (Terry) Hall of Algona, IA; and Sister-in-law, Pam Heller of Dunlap IA. Many more relatives and friends. A Rosary will be held Sunday at 4:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 6:30 p.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The family would like to invite everyone to lunch and fellowship at the church following the service.
