Rosalie Williams

Rosalie “Rose” Williams, the daughter of John Sr. and Florence (Lewis) Whited was born on October 16, 1929 in Denison, Iowa. She attended Denison, Iowa schools. In 1970 Rosalie received her nursing degree from Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. She worked many years as a Hospice nurse before retiring in 1993. On February 6, 1971 Rosalie Whited-Nordby and Lloyd Williams were united in marriage in Delmont, South Dakota. Following their marriage, they made their home in the Missouri Valley / Loveland, Iowa area for most of their forty-nine years of marriage. From September 1974 until the mid-80s they owned and operated “Williams Grocery Store” in Loveland, Iowa. Rosalie was a member of First Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa, where she enjoyed participating in the Bible study group, the Women’s Circle, helping with Sunday school and vacation Bible school. She was an assistant Cub Scout leader for Pack # 558, enjoyed traveling to visit her sisters in Texas, reading, music, going to movies and the daily coffee group at McDonalds. Holidays were always a special time with her family gathered around, especially the annual Easter Egg Hunt. Rosalie was a resident of Longview Nursing Home in Missouri Valley when she died on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at the age of 91 years and 17 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Terry Nordby; daughter, Virginia Francisco and son-in-law Jeff McEvoy; brothers, Roy Whited, John B Whited Jr. and Dewey Whited; sisters, Kathryn Wulf and Gloria Jean Whited.

Those remaining to cherish her memory include her husband of 49 years, Lloyd Williams of Missouri Valley; five children, Randi McEvoy of Harlan, Iowa, Vanessa (Allan) Sorensen of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Ronald Nordby (Rhonda) of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Douglas Williams of Omaha, NE., and Timothy Williams of Council Bluffs, Iowa, son-in-law, Don Francisco of Anderson, MO.; seventeen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; her sisters Shirley Flores of Branson, MO., Phyllis Schauf of Mission, TX., and Peggy Shumate of Dow City, Iowa; a brother, Wilbur and Patricia Whited of Cornelius, OR., and sister-in-law, Ann Whited of Hillsboro, OR.; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Interment Branson Cemetery – Loveland, Iowa

Family will direct any memorials.
