Sherman Anthony Girton, lovingly known as Tony, was born on April 4, 1977, in Florida to John Henry Lamphere Jr. and Donna Sue Fulk. In October of that same year, Tony was adopted by Richard Sherman Girton and Ana Louise Fermints. Tony lived in Ceiba, Puerto Rico, going to school at Roosevelt Roads Elementary until 7th grade. In 1990 he started at Fajardo Academy in Fajardo, Puerto Rico in the 8th grade where he graduated. He received a certificate in small engine repair.

As an adult Tony
helped his father Richard at Caribbean Maintenance. In 2013 he moved to Iowa
and worked as a tow truck driver and eventually worked for Edward’s KIA before
moving to Brakes Plus. As his health slowly declined, he started at Bellevue
Motors, which was his last job.

Tony had a zest
for life and loved going to car shows and cooking all kinds of foods,
especially Puerto Rican food. During the summer Tony loved being part of a
Wednesday night golf league with a few friends and cousin Randy Plath. In 2023
his health rapidly declined, and he was placed on the kidney transplant list in
December of 2023.

Left to cherish
his memory is his sister Carrie (Andy) Beller; nieces Kylie, Rylie and Mylie;
his brother Charles Gerke (significant other Dakota) and nieces Caitlin,
Courtney and Cassandra as well as his son, Kevin Anthony Girton, and many
family, and friends.

He was preceded
in death by his biological parents and his adoptive parents.
