Thomas A. Seamann

Thomas A. Seamann age 74, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2017 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Tom was born in Burwell, Nebraska on June 1,1943 to Boniface and Rosella (Matya) Seamann where he was the eldest of four children.  He attended school until the age of 17 and then joined the Navy and was stationed out of San Diego, CA serving on the USS Ranger as a 3rd Class Engineman from 1961-1963.   He married Dianne Jensen on November 2,1961 and the two of them had a son, Scott.

They moved back to Blair for a short time and then to Missouri Valley where he was self-employed and started Tom Seamann’s Plumbing & Heating. He was very successful in building many commercial and residential establishments in the surrounding area. He did this for 45 years and was a great teacher to many. During his time in Missouri Valley, he raised his son, Scott, until his passing in 1971.  Shortly after, Tom and Dianne made the decision to adopt children.  In 1973, they adopted daughter, Theresa and in 1975, daughter, Monica. Dianne passed in 1979.  Tom then married long time friend Marlene (Donnelson) Vires on May 1,1981 and was blessed with two additional daughters, Karen and Cindy Vires.

Tom was a hard worker who loved spending time with his family and friends, playing practical jokes, being outside, drinking Budweiser and watching westerns.

Tom is preceded in death by his parents, son Scott, brother Jerry, wife Dianne, wife Marlene and several close friends.

He is survived by brother Richard Seamann of Hastings, NE, sister Theresa Paugh (Dave) of Rock Springs, WY, daughters Karen Render (Terry) of Indianola, IA, Cindy Vires of Omaha, NE, Theresa Contreraz (Victor) and Monica Seamann both of Missouri Valley.  Grandchildren Kayla Webber (Derek), Kale Render, Keegan Render, all of Indianola, IA , Darrel Vires (Debbie) of Reno, NV, Chase & Maya Contreraz, and Cyan Seamann all of Missouri Valley.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Military Honors will be conducted by Julius F. Muller American Legion Post #337 of Missouri Valley.

    So sorry about Tom! WHAT A GUY, I felt privileged to know him my whole life- he always had that “ twinkle” in his eye and a funny story.
    Even after his health issues I could communicate with him in our own special way! He will be greatly missed and my thoughts and prayers are with the whole family! Rest highbupon that mountain , Tom- Loving thoughts- Becky ( Red) ?

You gave me comfort when I lost my dad and if I can be of any comfort to you and your family, please know that I am here for you.
