Carmel Cemetery – Missouri Valley, Iowa Arrangements by Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home Missouri Valley, Iowa THOMAS “TOM” JAMES GILMORE, age 77, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Tom was born in Missouri Valley on July 22, 1933 to Thomas and Marcella O. (Olson) Gilmore. When Tom was 7 months old his father died, later Marcella married James Gilmore. He graduated from Missouri Valley High School and married Peggy M. Gillett on May 23, 1954 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Missouri Valley. Tom worked for C&NW Railroad for 44 years and then for Union Pacific until his retirement. Tom was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus and was very active in the church and Knights of Columbus. He also belonged to the American Legion, Eagles, loved railroads and helped with the exhibits at the Religious Museum, and loved spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 56 years: Peggy M. Gilmore of Missouri Valley, Iowa; daughters: Rosemary Danielson of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Theresa Spencer and husband Eugene of Eagle Grove, Iowa; Cathy Gilmore of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: Skye Danielson, Raymond Danielson, Shelby and Michael Spencer, P. J. Pitt; step-grandchildren: Sylvia McDonald and husband Jim; Joel Danielson and wife Meggan; step-great-grandchildren: Wes McDonald, Julie Danielson; sisters: Rosanne Hinrichs of Collingswood, New Jersey; Mary Ellen Scheer and husband Warren of Arlington, Nebraska. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, step-father James, infant twin brothers, brother-in-law Tim Hinrichs, niece Sarah Hinrichs. A Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Missouri Valley with family visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. Military Honors will be conducted by the Julius F. Muller American Legion #337 of Missouri Valley, Iowa. The family would like to invite everyone to lunch and a time of fellowship at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church following the committal service.
