Timothy John McEvoy, age 93, of Beebeetown, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2015 at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He was born on January 22, 1922, to the late Richard and Lucy (Mierzwick) McEvoy. He devoted his life to serving his family, country, and God. He married Dorothy Vernelle Hays and they were blessed with four children. Following his service in the 302nd Airdrome Squadron, 9th Air Force, U.S. Army Air Corps in Europe during WWII, he began a successful farming career on the same farm he was born and raised on. He was an active member of St. Patricks Catholic Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa throughout his life. His steadfast devotion to the Air Force was reflected by acquiring his private pilots license after the war. He considered his military experience one of his proudest achievements. While farming, he also worked as a Rural Letter Carrier for the Council Bluffs Post Office and volunteered for the VFW in Missouri Valley as Honor Guard. Tim celebrated 58 years of marriage with Dorothy traveling, spending winters in the south, flying his private plane on family vacations, as well as bicycle riding on eight Bran Rides crossing the state of Nebraska. Tim and Dorothys farm became a Century Farm. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy (Hays) McEvoy; brother, Daniel McEvoy; and grandson, Scott McEvoy. Survivors include his children and spouses: Bev Ahrenholtz and husband Ken of Manilla, Iowa; Roger McEvoy of Missouri Valley, Iowa; Kathy Dawson and husband David of Underwood, Iowa; Joyce Peatrowsky and husband Mark of Fremont, Nebraska; thirteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; sister: Augusta Grubb of Council Bluffs, and brother Jim McEvoy of Shawnee, Kansas. Tims lasting legacy is the long line of love made visible in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Tims children will receive friends and family on Sunday, September 6, 2015 from 6:00 until 7:00 p.m. with visitation continuing until 8:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The family would like to invite you to the funeral with lunch and fellowship at the St. Patricks Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa following the Church service. Burial will follow afterwards.
