Tommy Ray Jensen

Tommy “Tom” Ray Jensen, age 75, of Missouri Valley, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, September 29, 2018 at Little Flower Haven in Earling, Iowa. Tom was born on May 7, 1943 to Milton and Bonnie (Walls) Jensen in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He graduated from Missouri Valley High School in 1961. Tom married Linda Allmon on February 28, 1964 in Missouri Valley, Iowa. He worked for Keith Watts, learning plumbing and electrical. Later, he worked for Chicago Northwestern Railroad and Union Pacific Railroad from September 3, 1965 and retiring in December 1992. He enjoyed woodworking and carving.

Tom enjoyed people. He was a great story teller, very witty and quick to respond. He wrote some pretty amazing poems, one for his 50th surprise birthday party. He included everyone that came to the birthday party in his poem, he didn’t leave one person out. That’s the kind of person my husband was, he was amazing. He had a big heart and loved his God, wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. He loved going to the grandkids sporting events, music programs, and to the coffee shop to talk to his buddies.

Tommy is preceded in death by parents Milton and Bonnie Jensen, brother Rodney Jensen, and nephews Bryan Jensen and Gary Lynn Crane.

Survivors include his wife Linda of 54 years, children: daughter Christine of Missouri Valley, Iowa, son Michael Jensen and friend Tammy of Omaha, Nebraska, daughter Cheryl McKenney and husband Cliff of Waterford, Connecticut, grandchildren: Bryce Jensen, Courtney Jensen, Seth Svejda, Adam Svejda, Thomas McKenney, Laura McKenney, brother Larry Jensen and wife Carolyn, sister Judy Pleake and husband Charles, Randy Jensen and wife Sue, sister in law Carolyn Jensen, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A Prayer Service will be held on Wednesday, October 3, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa with Pastor Charles Pleak officiating.

The family invites everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Christian Church Center in Missouri Valley following the committal service.

    Linda,

I wish I had known. I was just sitting here and decided to look up my cousins. (I have made contact with the Miller’s side just last week)
    I am so sorry.
Mom loved Tom so much. Watching him grow into the man of honor made her proud of him.

“A luminous light remains where a beautiful soul has passed.”

Prayers for continued strength and comfort for all who loved Tom.

I can be reached at 402-510-1437.

    By grace, Becky
