
Travis William Short was born on October 17, 1970, to Doug and Donna (Swanger) Short, in Blair, NE. He passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, IA. Travis graduated from Missouri Valley High School in May of 1989. He attended Iowa Western Community College for a time and then worked at several local businesses as well as owning his own liquor store, Short Stop Liquor, for 5 years. He worked at Community Memorial Hospital for the past 18 years as a Medical Receptionist Specialist. Travis also owned a DJ business, Short Productions, that handled hundreds of weddings and school dances in western Iowa. In his spare time, he enjoyed being involved with all things Missouri Valley athletics. He volunteered for many years as the P. A. announcer for Missouri Valley Boys basketball games and helped compile MV football stats.
The primary passions in Travis’s life were spending time with friends and following sports. During high school he was the manager for football, wrestling, boys track, and baseball teams. As an adult, he was an avid Alabama football, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Rams, and Las Vegas Raiders fan. He enjoyed traveling with friends to see his favorite teams play.
Travis is preceded in death by his mother, Donna Short.
Travis is survived by his father, Doug Short Sr. of Missouri Valley, brother Doug Jr. and wife Carolyn of Beecher, IL, and nephews Keegan Short of Seattle, WA, Garrett Short of Greenville, NC, and Ethan Short of Beecher, IL, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, at Community of Christ Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa. 2102 Liberty Ave, Missouri Valley, IA 51555
The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Eagles Club following the Funeral Service at the church.

How do you write a memorial for such a nice young man whom you’ve known for years. All I can say is everyone that knew him, which is the whole town of Missouri Valley and many others knew he was the kindest and very much respected guy. My love and prayers go out to his family and all.

Travis was a tremendous person and his contributions to the world will never be forgotten. He was a rich man- rich in kindness, rich in friendship, rich in spirit, and that is the best legacy of all. He will be truly missed.
Where do you start to write a lifetime of memories about such a great guy? Travis was one of a kind, friend to all, benefactor to many, and family to most. He had a big heart and a wonderful personality, and I loved him dearly. RIP Trav. We will all miss you!
