Travis W. Short

Travis William Short was born on October 17, 1970, to Doug and Donna (Swanger) Short, in Blair, NE.  He passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023, at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, IA.  Travis graduated from Missouri Valley High School in May of 1989.  He attended Iowa Western Community College for a time and then worked at several local businesses as well as owning his own liquor store, Short Stop Liquor, for 5 years.  He worked at Community Memorial Hospital for the past 18 years as a Medical Receptionist Specialist. Travis also owned a DJ business, Short Productions, that handled hundreds of weddings and school dances in western Iowa.  In his spare time, he enjoyed being involved with all things Missouri Valley athletics. He volunteered for many years as the P. A. announcer for Missouri Valley Boys basketball games and helped compile MV football stats.

The primary passions in Travis’s life were spending time with friends and following sports.  During high school he was the manager for football, wrestling, boys track, and baseball teams.  As an adult, he was an avid Alabama football, Los Angeles Dodgers, New York Yankees, Los Angeles Rams, and Las Vegas Raiders fan. He enjoyed traveling with friends to see his favorite teams play.

How do you write a memorial for such a nice young man whom you’ve known for years. All I can say is everyone that knew him, which is the whole town of Missouri Valley and many others knew he was the kindest and very much respected guy. My love and prayers go out to his family and all.
    RIP Travis fly high.
