William E. “Pete” Cunard Sr. age 87, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away on Tuesday, December 21, 2021 at Community Memorial Hospital in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
William E. Cunard married Connie Meritt on October 14, 1954. To this union five children (Bill, Pam, Peg, Tim & Craig) were born.
Pete is survived by his children; William (Baiba) Jr. of Missouri Valley; Pamela (Greg) Evans of Logan, Iowa; Peggy (Kyle) Black of Norwalk, Iowa; Timothy (Regina) of Missouri Valley and Craig of Missouri Valley. Fourteen grandchildren: William Cunard III, Brianna Lally, Brooke (David) VanBruggen, Rowdy (Jan) Evans, Jamie (Kelly) Evans, Bradley (Amy) Black, Kristin Black, Kimberly Black, Brian (Brooke) Cunard, Amanda (John) Lorenzen, Derrik (Ashley) Cunard, Ashley (Joel) Holben, Corey (Juli) Cunard and Cayla Cunard. Twenty-Seven great grandchildren; William IV, Lily, Dahlia Cunard, Baker, Brooklyn, Baylor Lally, Nolan and Delaney VanBruggen, Maren and Sage Evans, Amelia and Kennedy Evans, Logan and Lauren Black, Hailey Black, Caleb Black and Natalie Sorenson, Alivia and Adalyn Cunard, Lyndsey, Noah, and Isaiah Lorenzen; Lainey, Landon, and Wyatt Cunard, Emmett, Reese Holben, and a new blessing in July.
Visitation will be held at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa on Monday, December 27, 2021 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m.
The family would like to invite everyone to a time of fellowship at the Rand Center following the committal service at the cemetery.

Was so sorry to hear of Pete’s passing. Always had a smile on his face and a Hi to even strangers. Prayers and thoughts to family and friends. Sure Connie was waiting for him.

We will miss seeing your dad at the West Harrison games . He was a lot of fun and so sweet with the great grand kids I remember that one of the last baseball games we went to he named off every one of them I’m thinking holy moley!

I spent many years growing up with the Cunard family. Pete and Connie always treated me like part of the family. As a joke I always called Pete “Harry”. He will be missed by many and has left the family with many great memories.
