Visitation will be 5:30p.m~7:00p.m Monday, December 2, 2024, at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Funeral Service will be 10:30a.m. Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the First Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa.

Family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at Mondamin Community Center in Mondamin, Iowa following burial.

Barbara Iris Briggs of Mondamin, IA, passed away November 27, 2024, at 81 years old at the Israel Hospice House in Ames, IA.

Barbara was born to James and Pollyanna Cowan in Omaha, NE on January 21, 1943.

Barbara had a passion for her family and her faith.

She also enjoyed gardening, cooking and traveling. Especially to the Black Hills. She could spend days driving through the Black Hills looking at nature and reminiscing about previous vacations to the area.

Barbara was a great cook. Barbara and Frank would host many family gatherings and fish fries for friends.

She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Attending almost every activity and sports events. Those activities made her heart happy and put a smile on her face.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents James Cowan, Pollyanna Hosteller and brother Michael Cowan.

She is survived by her Husband Frank Briggs, children Keri Meyer (Bill), Dean Johnson and Beau Briggs (Shannon), stepdaughter Bobbie Brooks (Jason), grandchildren Joseph Litel, Katie Hansen (Curt), Lisa Gunnels, Tegan Hart (Cody), Dru Brooks, Molli Brooks, Ariel Williams, Tess Jackowski, Scarlett Briggs and Justice Briggs, great grandchildren Nicole Courtier, Jazzmyn Gunnels, Dierks Hansen, Reagan Hansen, Lainee Hansen, and many nieces and nephews.

    Barb was a wonderful soul. I met her when she had daycare in her home in Mondamin. Such kindness, patience and love. Prayers for her family. May her memory be eternal.

    My deepest sympathy to cousin Frank and the family. Was shocked to hear the news from another cousin, Carol Rae. I only met Barbara a few times at family funerals but what a delightful person. So friendly and such a great smile. Hugs to all.
