Ellis Vern Jacobsen, “Jake or Vern”, was born February 26, 1956, in Council Bluffs, IA. The son of Rolland and Karen (Baxter) Jacobsen.
Vern married Kim (Boysen) Traylor in 1973. They had 2 children, Tracy Lynn and Rolland Jacobsen. Vern and Kim divorced in 1989, and Vern moved to Council Bluffs and started a trash hauling company. He then started collecting all sorts of antiques. It started with just one shelf with cobalt blue glass pieces. He then finally moved back to Missouri Valley and his collection grew largely, so much that he had to build another room onto his house. Besides his antiques he loved muscle cars and would frequently talk about the 1/4 mile that he would run his challenger down. At any time, you could find him sitting in the garage behind his house tinkering on something or trying to straighten out a piece of metal when he could easily find a better one across the tracks.
He loved his children and family very much.
Vern is survived by his daughter Tracy “Chad” Lustgraaf and his son Rolland Jacobsen. Vern had 7 grandchildren Garrett (Tiffany) Mace, Tanner (Maggie) Mace, Jonathan Johnson, Jozie Jacobsen, Madison Lustgraaf, Baylee Snelling, Jax Lustgraaf. 1 great grandson Noah Ross Mace. mother Karen Jacobsen, brother Terry Jacobsen, sister Kathy Thomas, several nieces and nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
He is preceded in death by Father Rolland Eugene Jacobsen and sister Shari.

To Tracy and Rolland, my deepest sympathy. We shared many good times over the years, leaving fond memories that will last a lifetime. My thoughts and prayers are with you all during this difficult time. RIP Vern. You’ll be missed
My deepest condolences to you and your family, Tracy and Rolland. I have so many fond memories of being with your family. Vern gave me a place to live and cared for me. I spent many nights watching Lavern and Shiley with Vern. I will never forget those times. I cannot be with you all during this time, but my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
RIP Vern
with Love,
Ana and family
