Esther Jane Shreves, age 82, passed away Saturday, December 13, 2014 at Longview Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Esther was born on February 9, 1932 in Logan, Iowa to Oca and Flora (Runyan) Swanger. Esther married Arlon D. Shreves on March 18, 1948. She worked as a housekeeper at numerous homes in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Later, Esther worked in Omaha at Country Inn and Suites. Then she worked at Rath Inn, Missouri Valley, Iowa. She lived in an apartment in Blair, Nebraska until June, 2013. Esther then moved to Longview Home where she lived until her passing. She enjoyed cross stitch, sewing, solitaire, Yahtzee. Esther is preceded in death by her husband, Arlon, son Lee, daughter, Lola; sisters, Alda, Edith, Bobbie brothers: Wad, Jack, Fritz, and Max. Esther is survived by her sons Lance and wife Adrianne of Sweet Home, Oregon; Loren and wife Johnette of Missouri Valley, Iowa; son in law: Roger Thomas, grandkids: Nick, Bonnie, Laura, Matthew, Marcus, Tjarbe, Kierya, Joey, Roman, Brian, Nellie, and 11 great grandkids. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. The family invites everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the Methodist Church in Missouri Valley following the committal service.
