Gene Arnold Moore, 88 years old

Deceased: December 23rd, 2022 in Missouri Valley, Iowa
Gene was born May 13th, 1934 in California Junction, Iowa to mother Verna Palmer. Gene had three siblings. Gene attended grade school in Missouri Valley. He served in the Air Force from 1955-1958. He served in the Airforce Reserve from 1958-1963, during which time he married his wife, Norma, in 1960. They went on to have four children of their own, while Gene worked at Vickers until retiring in 1992.
Gene was a member of the Eagle’s Club and St. Paul Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley. He enjoyed softball, bowling, and golfing. Gene loved to play cards, ride his scooter, traveling and enjoyed spending time with his family. He also was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Chicago Cubs.
Gene is survived by his sister, Gladys Moore Engler Isom; brother, Melvin Moore (Jane Moore); daughter, Stacy Pippitt (Steve Pippitt); son, Scott Moore (Kay Hersch); daughter, Tara Hartwig (Tim Cooper); along with 8 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Gene was preceded in death by his mother, Verna Palmer; wife, Norma Moore; daughter, Michelle Weber; and sister, Joyce Maloney.
Visitation will be Thursday from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
The family would like to invite everyone for a time of fellowship and lunch at the church immediately following the funeral service on Friday.
Military Honors will be conducted by The United States Air Force and Julius F. Mueller American Legion Post #337.
