Marian F (Marquardt) Longmeyer

Marian Francis (Marquardt) Longmeyer was born December 1, 1929 to Henry and Hazel (Reel) Marquardt in Canova SD. She attended rural school and graduated from Missouri Valley Schools with a teaching certificate in 1948. Marian married Ivan Longmeyer on Dec. 19, 1947. She worked at Sunnyside Café for many years then worked for Ma Bell as an operator for about 7 years until able to be a stay a home mom. While Ivan ran his own welding shop, Marian took care of their livestock, mainly farrowing sows. After Ivan passed, Marian worked at Ben Franklin in Missouri Valley then part time at Only Deals in Omaha, Ne and South Sioux City, Ne with her son in law. She enjoyed bowling at the Tamarack Bowl on several leagues throughout the years and later working in the kitchen during junior league and adult league nights. Marian was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Missouri Valley. Marian enjoyed playing cards, bowling, doing home remodeling projects, crosswords, jigsaw puzzles and watching the Bold and the Beautiful. Marian died Sunday June 15, 2014 at the age of 84 years, 6 months and 15days. Marian was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ivan Longmeyer (1996); sisters Joyce Gatrost (1997); Dolores Kiefer (2012) sons Roger (2013) and Jo (2008), grandson Jacob Hinkel (1994), great grandson Alexander (2002). She is survived by three daughters Connie (Michael) McLaughlin of Missouri Valley, Lori (Paul) Teal of Omaha and Kay Hinkel of Missouri Valley Ia; Lorri Esnough (special friend to Roger), eleven grandchildren, Brian Muell, Jason (Jodi) Longmeyer, Tara (Muell) Hernandez, Jeremy (Lisa) Longmeyer, Rebecca (Patrick) McLaughlin-Noameshie, Nick Longmeyer, Ryan McLaughlin, Shanna Longmeyer, Stuart (Allison) Longmeyer, Dennis Hinkel, Scott Hinkel; two step grandchildren Mara and Tommy Esnough; 18 great grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Colton Muell, Marissa, Ben and Gabe Hernandez, Luke, Daniel and Mark Noameshie, Mason, Payton, Myles, Andrew, Madison, Evelyn and Brayden Longmeyer, Kasey McLaughlin Christiansen, Briella Delgado, Waylon Hinkel; two brothers, Henry (Betty) Marquardt and Kenneth (Sandra) Marquardt all of Missouri Valley and many other relatives and friends. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday with a Prayer Service at 6:30 p.m. at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley.
