William J. Tamisiea

William Joseph Tamisiea, age 79, of Missouri Valley, Iowa passed away Sunday, December 15, 2013 at the Longview Care Center in Missouri Valley. Bill was born January 21, 1934 in Missouri Valley to Joseph J. and Wilma L. (Divelbess) Tamisiea. Bill attended St. Patrick’s Elementary through the eighth grade. He graduated from the Missouri Valley High School in 1953, where the ag classes were his favorites. Farming was always Bill’s passion. Through a series of fortunate circumstances and hard work, Bill, working with his father Joe and his brother Bob, was able to have a successful career before he retired in 2004. While retirement came from physical necessity, he was always proud of what they had achieved. Bill married his wife, Marilynn Altrock, in 1968, and they were able to celebrate their 45th wedding anniversary just over a week before his death. He was a life-long member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, where he particularly enjoyed the weekday masses after his retirement. Bill gardened with Marilynn, sharing produce with the residents of Culavan Heights, and served on the Modale and Annis drainage district boards. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Wilma Tamisiea. Survivors include his wife, Marilynn; son, Mark Tamisiea, brother, Robert Tamisiea and wife Barb; sister: Linda McIntosh and husband Tom; sister-in-law, Darlene Reed and husband Richard; aunt, Helen Nelson; nine nieces and nephews. A Rosary will be said at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday with visitation to follow until 8:00 p.m. at the Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley. The family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at the church following the committal service.
